The White House

DAILY GUIDANCE AND PRESS SCHEDULE FOR
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 17, 2021

 
In the morning, the President will attend a mass in honor of St. Patrick’s Day in Wilmington, Delaware. This event will be closed press.
 
Then, the President will depart Wilmington, Delaware en route Washington, DC. The departure from Delaware Air National Guard Base will be covered by the travel pool. The arrival at the South Lawn will be covered by the in-town pool.
 
Later, the President will receive the President’s Daily Brief. This meeting will be closed press.
 
In the afternoon, the President will host H.E. Micheál Martin, Prime Minister of Ireland, for a virtual bilateral meeting. They will reaffirm the deep, historic partnership and extraordinary people-to-people ties between the United States and Ireland. This meeting in the Oval Office will have a pool spray at the top.

Thursday, March 17, 2021

The Secretary of State and National Security Adviser meet with their Chinese counterparts in Anchorage, Alaska Thursday.

The Secretary of State and Secretary of Defense are spending three days visiting Japan and South Korea


Friday, March 19, 2021

The President and the Vice President will travel to Georgia as part of the Help Is Here tour to highlight how the American Rescue Plan helps Americans and their families.
 

Daily Guidance for Secretary of the Treasury Janet L. Yellen

                                                    Wednesday

Secretary Yellen will participate via teleconference in the first periodic Public Meeting in 2021 of the Treasury Tribal Advisory Committee (TTAC). This event is open press.   

The Senate Thursday

10:30 a.m.: Convenes and at 11:30a ET votes to confirm Katherine C. Tai to be United States Trade Representative.

The House Thursday

Convenes at 10a ET.  (After Friday the House will have no floor votes until April 13.)

The House will take up the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act and the resolution ending the deadline for states to ratify the ERA. Friday, the House ends the week by voting to prevent automatic spending cuts to Medicare.  On Thursday the House will consider two individual immigration bills that provide paths for citizenship for “DREAMers” and migrant farmworkers.

(With Tuesday’s resignation of Rep Debra Haaland to become Secretary of the Interior the House now has 430 voters, 219 Democrats, 211 Republicans.)
