The White House

DAILY GUIDANCE AND PRESS SCHEDULE FOR
THURSDAY, MAY 6, 2021

 
In the morning, the President will receive the President’s Daily Brief in the Oval Office. This meeting will be closed press.
 
Then, the President will travel to Lake Charles, Louisiana as part of the Getting America Back on Track Tour. The departure from the Ellipse will be covered by the in-town pool. The departure from Joint Base Andrews and the arrival at Chennault International Airport will be covered by the travel pool.
 
In the afternoon, the President will deliver remarks on the American Jobs Plan near Calcasieu River Bridge in Lake Charles, Louisiana. These remarks will be pooled press.
 
Later, the President will depart Lake Charles, Louisiana en route New Orleans, Louisiana. The departure from Chennault International Airport and the arrival at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport will be covered by the travel pool. 
 
Then, the President will tour the Carrollton Water Plant. This visit will be pooled press. 
 
Later, the President will return to the White House from New Orleans, Louisiana. The departure from Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport and the arrival at Joint Base Andrews will be covered by the travel pool. The arrival on the Ellipse will be covered by the in-town pool.

Schedule for Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen

Thursday – Secretary Janet L. Yellen will attend a virtual event hosted by the Internal Revenue Service recognizing hundreds of IRS employees across the country for major accomplishments during the past two years. The IRS Commissioner awards recognize a range of employee accomplishments assisting taxpayers and tax administration efforts. This includes critical work performed during the pandemic, including distributing millions of Economic Impact Payments to Americans. This event will be livestreamed at 10:05am ET and can be accessed on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofLS917_IrM).

Deputy Secretary Wally Adeyemo will meet virtually with advisors and staff.

                                    State Department Daily Briefing

Thursday Secretary Blinken returns from UK visit attending the G7 Foreign and Development Ministers’ Meeting and his visit to Kyiv, Ukraine. News briefings on irregular schedule, usually at approximately 2p ET although often delayed on short notice. Wednesday’s was by telephone at 2p ET.

The Senate

Out until next week. Convene Thursday 4:00 p.m. for a pro forma session.

The House

Out, there are no votes until May 11.
