In the morning, the President will receive the President’s Daily Brief. This meeting will be closed press.
 
In the afternoon, the President will present the Presidential Rank Awards to 230 winners from 37 federal agencies in a virtual ceremony. This event in the South Court Auditorium will be open to pre-credentialed media. [RSVP here by 9:00 AM]
 
Later, the President and the First Lady will host a reception to celebrate Eid al-Fitr. The Second Gentleman will also attend. This event in the East Room will be open to pre-credentialed media. [RSVP here by 11:00 AM]

Ambassador Katherine Tai will be in Los Angeles, California to meet with members of the state’s congressional delegation and participate in roundtables and AANHPI-focused events to mark the start of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.
 
Ambassador Tai will participate in a fireside chat with Kai Ryssdal, Host and Senior Editor at Marketplace, at the Milken Institute’s 2022 Global Conference. The conversation will cover the Biden-Harris Administration’s trade agenda and Ambassador Tai’s work to develop an inclusive, worker-centered trade policy. More information can be found here.
 
Ambassador Tai and Congresswoman Judy Chu will participate in a roundtable event with representatives from the film and television industry. This event is closed press.
 
Ambassador Sarah Bianchi will be in New York City to meet with stakeholders and discuss ongoing developments with respect to the United States’ trade agenda. These meetings are closed press.
 
 
Tuesday, May 3, 2022
 
Ambassador Tai and Congressman Jimmy Gomez will meet with members of the CA-34 Stop AAPI Hate Taskforce to discuss the rise in hate crimes against the AAPI community. This event will take place at the Japanese American National Museum and the opening remarks of the roundtable will be open press, followed by a closed press discussion. There will be a brief press gaggle with Ambassador Tai and Congressman Gomez after the roundtable.
 
Ambassador Tai, Congressman Gomez, and Congresswoman Linda Sánchez will join a roundtable with representatives of the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO and other union leaders to discuss how the federal government can work with local communities to advance a worker-centered trade policy. This event will take place at Congressman Gomez’s district office and the opening remarks of the roundtable will be open press, followed by a closed press discussion.
 
 
Wednesday, May 4, 2022
 
Ambassador Tai will participate in an event hosted by Texas A&M University’s Bush School of Government and Public Service and the International Labor Organization: “Advancing Equitable Economic Growth and Worker Voice.” This event is open press and more details are available here. Assistant United States Trade Representative for Labor Josh Kagan will also participate in a separate panel discussion at this event: “Looking Forward: New Approaches and Opportunities.”
 
Ambassador Tai will meet with Japan’s Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Kōichi Hagiuda. This meeting is closed press.
 
 
Thursday, May 5, 2022
 
Ambassador Tai will travel to Ottawa and Toronto, Canada to meet with Minister of International Trade, Export Promotion, Small Business and Economic Development Mary Ng and discuss ways to strengthen the U.S.-Canadian trade relationship.
 
In Ottawa, Ambassador Tai and Minister Ng will have a bilateral meeting. This event is closed press.
