DAILY GUIDANCE AND PRESS SCHEDULE FOR
TUESDAY, MAY 3, 2022
In the morning, the President will travel to Troy, Alabama. The departure from the White House and the departure from Joint Base Andrews will be covered by the out-of-town pool. The arrival at Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base will be open press.
In the afternoon, the President will visit a Lockheed Martin facility which manufactures weapon systems such as Javelin anti-tank missiles, which the Biden-Harris Administration is providing Ukraine and which Ukrainians are using so effectively to defend against the Russian invasion. This tour of Lockheed Martin’s Pike County Operations facility in Troy, Alabama will be covered by the out-of-town pool.
Then, the President will deliver remarks highlighting his request to Congress to pass funding quickly to help Ukraine continue to succeed against Russian aggression and make sure the United States and our allies can replenish our own stocks of weapons to replace what we have sent to Ukraine. These remarks at Lockheed Martin’s Pike County Operations facility will be open press.
After, the President will return to the White House from Troy, Alabama. The departure from Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base will be open press. The arrival at Joint Base Andrews and the arrival at the White House will be covered by the out-of-town pool.

Ambassador Tai and Congressman Jimmy Gomez will meet with members of the CA-34 Stop AAPI Hate Taskforce to discuss the rise in hate crimes against the AAPI community. This event will take place at the Japanese American National Museum and the opening remarks of the roundtable will be open press, followed by a closed press discussion. There will be a brief press gaggle with Ambassador Tai and Congressman Gomez after the roundtable.
Ambassador Tai, Congressman Gomez, and Congresswoman Linda Sánchez will join a roundtable with representatives of the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO and other union leaders to discuss how the federal government can work with local communities to advance a worker-centered trade policy. This event will take place at Congressman Gomez’s district office and the opening remarks of the roundtable will be open press, followed by a closed press discussion.

Ambassador Tai will participate in an event hosted by Texas A&M University’s Bush School of Government and Public Service and the International Labor Organization: “Advancing Equitable Economic Growth and Worker Voice.” This event is open press and more details are available here. Assistant United States Trade Representative for Labor Josh Kagan will also participate in a separate panel discussion at this event: “Looking Forward: New Approaches and Opportunities.”
Ambassador Tai will meet with Japan’s Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Kōichi Hagiuda. This meeting is closed press.

Ambassador Tai will travel to Ottawa and Toronto, Canada to meet with Minister of International Trade, Export Promotion, Small Business and Economic Development Mary Ng and discuss ways to strengthen the U.S.-Canadian trade relationship.
In Ottawa, Ambassador Tai and Minister Ng will have a bilateral meeting. This event is closed press.
