This law includes actions the President has long called for and that will save lives. The President and the Vice President will deliver remarks and the Second Gentleman will attend. This event on the South Lawn will be open press. In the afternoon, the President and the Vice President will receive a briefing from National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) officials and preview the first images from the Webb Space Telescope — the highest-resolution images of the infrared universe ever captured. Yellen will meet with advisors and staff in Tokyo in advance of bilateral meetings and events in Japan, the Republic of Korea, and the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meetings in Bali, Indonesia. While overseas, Secretary Yellen will advance key U.S. economic and national security interests—including continuing to rally the broad global coalition unified against Russia in response to its war in Ukraine. In meetings with partners at all three stops, the Secretary will discuss opportunities to further strengthen the historic sanctions that have been imposed on Russia, which have significantly weakened Russia’s economy and military. Secretary Yellen will also discuss with partners a price cap on Russian oil to limit revenue for Russia’s military while at the same time dampening the impact of the war on gas and energy prices in America and globally. In addition, the Secretary will also continue her work on the coordinated global response to the spillover effects of Russia’s war, including growing food insecurity..
