Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen
Thursday – Secretary of the Treasury Janet L. Yellen will testify for the United States House of Representatives Committee on Ways and Means. The hearing will be livestreamed here: https://waysandmeans.house.gov/legislation/hearings/ways-and-means-committee-hearing-presidents-proposed-fiscal-year-2022-budget-0.
The Secretary will also host a bilateral meeting with Mexican Finance Minister Arturo Herrera Gutiérrez at the U.S. Department of the Treasury. This meeting will continue the tradition of close U.S.-Mexico coordination on economic priorities, including responding effectively to the COVID-19 pandemic and supporting a robust economic recovery, ending the global race to the bottom by committing to a global minimum tax, and deepening cooperation to address the root causes of migration from Central America. This meeting is closed press with a pool spray at the top.
Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo will travel to Baltimore, Maryland to meet with leaders at Morgan State University to discuss their efforts to educate the next generation of leaders and Treasury’s Equity Review. Later, he will meet with Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott to discuss how the American Rescue Plan is helping cities recover from the pandemic. Lastly, Deputy Secretary Adeyemo will visit the Druid Heights Community Development Corporation to highlight the Administration’s proposals to increase accessible, affordable housing.
State Department
Thursday– Secretary of State Blinken returns with President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. from his bilateral meeting with Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin.
State Department news briefngs, when held, are usually about 2 p.m. It is not known if one will be scheduled for Thursday.
