THURSDAY, JULY 1, 2021
In the morning, the President and the First Lady will travel to Surfside, Florida. The departure from the South Lawn will be open press. The departure from Joint Base Andrews and the arrival at Miami International Airport will be covered by the travel pool.
Then, the President and the First Lady will receive a command briefing from Incident Commander Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, Governor Ron DeSantis, local leaders, and first responders in Surfside, Florida. This briefing will have a pool spray at the top.
After, the President and the First Lady will thank the heroic first responders, search and rescue teams, and others who have been working tirelessly around the clock for their continued efforts and support in Surfside, Florida. This visit will be covered by the travel pool.
In the afternoon, the President and the First Lady will meet with the families who have been forced to endure this terrible tragedy, to offer them comfort as search and rescue efforts continue. This meeting at the St. Regis Hotel will be closed press.
Later, the President will deliver remarks at the St. Regis Hotel. These remarks will be covered by pre-credentialed media.
In the evening, the President and the First Lady will return to the White House from Surfside, Florida. The departure from Miami International Airport and the arrival at Joint Base Andrews will be covered by the travel pool. The arrival on the South Lawn will be open press.
