Secretary Yellen will participate in a virtual meeting with a bipartisan group of six mayors from around the country, representing populations of under 80,000 residents, to better understand on-the-ground macroeconomic realities of cities around the country and underscore the importance of passing the American Rescue Plan. The U.S. Senate Thursday
11:00 a.m.: Convene and begin a period of morning business.
The Senate parliamentarian may rule as soon Thursday or Friday whether a nationwide increase in the minimum wage to $15 an hour is allowed to be included in the pandemic relief proposal under the reconciliation process rules. Should it be ruled out the Senate can override the parliamentarian, unlikely since that would take 60 votes.
Senate will vote at 12:10pm to confirm Jennifer Granholm to be Energy Secretary and then at 1:30pm to advance the nomination of Miguel Cardona to be Education Secretary
