Then, the President will deliver remarks on the assistance the United States is providing to Ukraine. The Secretary of State, the Deputy Secretary of Defense, and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff will attend. These remarks in the South Court Auditorium will be open to pre-credentialed media.
In the afternoon, the President will deliver remarks at an event celebrating the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). The Attorney General and the Secretary of Health and Human Services will attend. This event in the East Room will be open to pre-credentialed media.
In the evening, the President will deliver remarks at The Ireland Funds 30th National Gala. This event at the National Building Museum in Washington, DC will be covered by the in-town travel pool.

WASHINGTON – On Wednesday, March 16, Ambassador Katherine Tai will travel to Michigan. She will attend a community vigil at 10:00 AM hosted by Asian and Pacific Islander Americans Vote – Michigan at the Hart Plaza to mark the one-year anniversary of the Atlanta spa shooting.
Ambassador Tai will also tour SK Siltron CSS in Auburn and Bay City, Michigan at 1:00 PM with the Republic of Korea’s Trade Minister Yeo Han-koo and participate in a roundtable with business executives from SK Siltron CSS on the 10th anniversary of the U.S.-Korea (KORUS) Free Trade Agreement’s entry into force. Ambassador Tai will highlight the importance of passing legislation to increase American competitiveness and lower prices for working families by addressing bottlenecks like semiconductor chips, manufacturing more in America, and increasing the resilience of our supply chains. As a major semiconductor manufacturer, SK Siltron is helping the United States maintain its global competitive edge through the production of this vital technology. According to the Semiconductor Industry Association, since the start of 2021, the semiconductor industry has announced nearly $80 billion in U.S. investments through 2025, which will create tens of thousands of new jobs across the country. Ambassador Sarah Bianchi will conduct meetings in Canberra, Australia. She will meet with Australia’s Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment Dan Tehan. Ambassador Bianchi will also meet with Australia’s Secretary of the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment Andrew Metcalfe. She will co-chair a meeting of the U.S.-Australian Free Trade Agreement Joint Committee with Associate Secretary Tim Yeend from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. WASHINGTON – At 8AM, Secretary of the Treasury Janet L. Yellen will host Attorney General Merrick Garland for a launch meeting of the Russian Elites, Proxies, and Oligarchs (REPO) multilateral task force. The virtual meeting will include representation from Germany, Canada, Japan, France, Italy, Australia, the European Commission, and the United Kingdom. The task force was first announced in a statement by leaders, including President Biden, on February 26, and will be leverage authorities in member countries to collect and share information against Russian targets, including sanctions, asset freezing, and civil and criminal asset seizure. The meeting is closed press.
Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo will meet with advisors and staff.
Under Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Brian Nelson will meet with senior government officials and private sector leaders in Pretoria, South Africa. They will discuss Treasury’s recent designation of ISIS financial facilitators in South Africa, anti-corruption efforts in South Africa and the region, building resilience to economic shocks, and ways to further partner on efforts to combat terrorist financing and corruption.
