White House and Other Schedules for Friday, Jan 13

WASHINGTON (MaceNews) – The following are Friday’s schedules for the White House, Treasury, USTR, the State Department and Capitol Hill as well as U.S. data and Federal Reserve events:   

DAILY GUIDANCE AND PRESS SCHEDULE 
FOR FRIDAY, JANUARY 13, 2023 
In the morning, the President will receive the President’s Daily Brief. This meeting will be closed press.

After, the President will welcome Prime Minister Kishida Fumio of Japan to the White House to further deepen ties between our governments, economies, and our people. Over the past year, the two leaders have worked closely together to modernize the U.S.-Japan Alliance, expand our cooperation on key issues from climate change to critical technologies including through the Quad, and advance a free and open Indo-Pacific. President Biden and Prime Minister Kishida will lay the groundwork for renewed cooperation this year. This arrival on the South Lawn will be open press.

Then, the President will hold a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Kishida Fumio of Japan. This meeting in the Oval Office will have an in-house pool spray.

Later, the President and Prime Minister Kishida Fumio will participate in a working lunch. This meeting in the Cabinet Room be closed press.

In the afternoon, the President will depart the White House en route Wilmington, Delaware. The departure from the South Lawn will be open press. The arrival at Delaware Air National Guard Base, New Castle, Delaware will be covered by the out-of-town pool.

US TREASURY

Friday – Secretary of the Treasury Janet L. Yellen will ceremonially swear in Jay Shambaugh as Under Secretary of the Treasury for International Affairs. The swearing in is closed press. Secretary Yellen will also join President Biden in his bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Kishida Fumio of Japan. Otherwise, Secretary Yellen has no public engagements.  

STATE DEPT

USTR

Assistant United States Trade Representative Terry McCartin will be in Taipei, Taiwan for a negotiating round of the U.S.-Taiwan Initiative on 21st-Century Trade.  These meetings are closed press.

US  SENATE

Friday – OutThe Senate, except for brief pro-forma sessions, is out until Jan 23.  The next pro-forma session is 1:30p ET Friday.
