TREASURY DEPT –

Friday – Secretary of the Treasury Janet L. Yellen will be in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for events to highlight the state of the U.S. economy and the good-paying jobs President Biden’s Investing in America agenda is creating across the country for middle class Americans. While in Milwaukee, Secretary Yellen will also meet with regional business leaders hosted by the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce to discuss the local economy and President Biden’s economic agenda.

At 10:00 AM CST / 11:00 AM EST, Secretary Yellen will tour a Wisconsin Regional Training Partnership (WRTP) | Building Industry Group Skilled Trades Employment Program (BIG STEP) workforce training facility. She will be joined by Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers and Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley. The facility Secretary Yellen is touring is being modernized and expanded thanks to federal funding. WRTP | BIG STEP is also leveraging American Rescue Plan funding to provide new credentialing opportunities, including in green construction. This tour will be pooled press. At 10:30 AM CST / 11:30 AM EST, Secretary Yellen will participate in a roundtable discussion with Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers, Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley, local workforce partners, small businesses, and graduates of the training programs. Secretary Yellen and Governor Evers will deliver open press remarks at the start of this roundtable. The remainder of the roundtable discussion is closed press. At approximately 11:30 AM CST / 12:30 PM EST, Secretary Yellen will participate in a ribbon-cutting ceremony with WRTP | BIG STEP leaders, as well as Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers, Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley. During this ceremony, she will deliver remarks on the Biden Administration’s efforts to create and strengthen pathways to good-paying jobs for middle class Americans across the country. This includes by funding workforce development through the American Rescue Plan and other measures, supporting unions, and creating new economic opportunities and good-paying jobs—including those that don’t require a college degree—through the President’s Investing in America agenda.
