TREASURY DEPT
Friday – At 10:15AM CT/11:15AM ET, Secretary of the Treasury Janet L. Yellen will visit PosiGen, a leading solar energy company headquartered in New Orleans, Louisiana. Secretary Yellen will deliver remarks on how President Biden’s economic agenda – Bidenomics – including his signature legislative accomplishments like the Inflation Reduction Act, are creating good-paying jobs, lowering costs for Americans, and driving a historic manufacturing and clean energy boom. Companies like PosiGen benefit from the Inflation Reduction Act’s incentives that help consumers lower their utility bills, developers invest in underserved communities, and companies manufacture solar components in the U.S., which strengthens supply chains. The event is open press and will be livestreamed here.
At 1:45 PM CT/2:45 PM ET, Secretary Yellen will participate in a roundtable discussion with business leaders and investors as part of the Essence Festival’s Global Black Economic Forum. The discussion will focus on the Treasury Department’s efforts to increase credit to Black-owned businesses and entrepreneurs. The roundtable is closed press, but will include a photo spray at the top.
At 3PM CT/4PM ET, Secretary Yellen will deliver remarks on centering equity in economic policy at the Essence Festival’s Global Black Economic Forum. Secretary Yellen is the first Treasury Secretary to attend and speak at the Essence Festival and her remarks will discuss ways the Treasury Department is unlocking economic opportunity for communities that have too often been underserved, which is key to the long-term economic success of the United States. The event is open press and the livestream is available here.
