US TREASURY

Monday – Secretary of the Treasury Janet L. Yellen will travel to Seoul, Republic of Korea where she will participate in meetings and events.  In Seoul, Secretary Yellen will continue to advance key U.S. economic and national security interests — such as efforts to lower costs for American consumers by addressing supply chain bottlenecks, including through increased friend-shoring with trusted economic partners.  She will also continue her work to rally the broad global coalition unified against Russia in response to its war in Ukraine. In her bilateral meetings, the Secretary will continue discussions with the Republic of Korea on how a price cap on Russian oil would work to limit revenue for Russia’s military while at the same time dampening the impact of the war on gas and energy prices on households in both countries and around the world. The visit will be the final stop on Secretary Yellen’s first trip to the Indo-Pacific region as Secretary, which began in Japan and included the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting in Bali, Indonesia.
