White House and Other Schedules for Monday, May 1

WASHINGTON (MaceNews) – The following are Monday’s schedules for the White House, Treasury, USTR, the State Department and Capitol Hill as well as U.S. economic data and Federal Reserve events:


DAILY GUIDANCE AND PRESS SCHEDULE 
FOR MONDAY, MAY 1, 2023


In the morning, the President will receive the President’s Daily Brief. This meeting will be closed press.

In the afternoon, the President and the Vice President will deliver remarks during National Small Business Week. The President will discuss how his investments in America have led to a small business boom and a record, 10.5 million applications to start small businesses in 2021 and 2022. He will also discuss how Speaker McCarthy and House Republicans passed a partisan bill that would harm small businesses and eliminate jobs. Small Business Administrator Isabel Guzman will also participate. This event in the Rose Garden will be open press.

Later, the President and the First Lady will welcome His Excellency Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. President of the Republic of the Philippines and Mrs. Louise Araneta-Marcos to the White House.  The arrival to the South Portico will be open press.   

After, the President will host President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. of the Republic of the Philippines for a bilateral meeting. During the visit, the President will reaffirm the United States’ ironclad commitment to the defense of the Philippines, and the leaders will discuss efforts to strengthen the longstanding U.S.-Philippines alliance. The two leaders will review opportunities to deepen economic cooperation and promote inclusive prosperity, expand our nations’ special people-to-people ties, invest in the clean energy transition and the fight against climate change, and ensure respect for human rights. The two leaders will also discuss regional matters and coordinate on efforts to uphold international law and promote a free and open Indo-Pacific. This meeting in the Oval Office will have an in-house pool spray at the top.

In the evening, the President will host a reception celebrating Eid-al-Fitr in the East Room. The Vice President and the Second Gentleman will attend. This event in the East Room will be open to pre-credentialed media and pooled for TV.
