DAILY GUIDANCE AND PRESS SCHEDULE FOR
MONDAY, MAY 9, 2022
In the morning, the President will return to the White House from Wilmington, Delaware. The departure from Delaware Air National Guard Base will be covered by the out-of-town pool. The arrival on the South Lawn will be open press and pooled for TV.
Then, the President and the Vice President will receive the President’s Daily Brief in the Oval Office. This meeting will be closed press.
In the afternoon, the President and the Vice President will deliver remarks on how the Biden-Harris Administration is lowering the cost of high-speed internet for millions of American families and expanding access through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. These remarks in the Rose Garden will be open press.
After, the President will sign into law S. 3522, the “Ukraine Democracy Defense Lend-Lease Act of 2022.” The Vice President will attend. This bill signing in the Oval Office will be pooled press.
In the evening, the President will participate in a fundraising reception for the Democratic National Committee in Potomac, Maryland. This event will be covered by the restricted in-town travel pool and the in-town travel pool will accompany.

The President will deliver remarks on his plan to fight inflation and lower costs for working families, and contrast his approach with Congressional Republicans’ ultra-MAGA plan to raise taxes on 75 million American families and threaten to sunset programs like Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.
The President will hold a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Mario Draghi of Italy to reaffirm the deep bonds of friendship and strong partnership between the United States and Italy. The leaders will discuss their ongoing coordination with Allies and partners on measures to support the people of Ukraine and to impose economic costs on Russia for its unprovoked aggression. They will also discuss our close cooperation on promoting global economic prosperity, increasing Europe’s energy security, and combatting climate change.

The President will visit a family farm in Kankakee, Illinois to discuss the impact of Putin’s invasion of Ukraine on food supply and prices at home and abroad, and the Biden-Harris Administration’s efforts to give farmers the tools and resources they need to boost domestic food production. The President will deliver remarks on Putin’s Price Hike and his Administration’s actions to support farmers and food processors, lower their costs and lower prices for families.
The President will address the 40th International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) International Convention in Chicago, Illinois.
The President will participate in a fundraising reception for the Democratic National Committee in Chicago, Illinois.

The President will welcome the Leaders of ASEAN countries and the ASEAN Secretary-General to the White House for a dinner as part of the U.S.-ASEAN Special Summit. The Summit will commemorate 45 years of U.S.-ASEAN relations and strengthen ASEAN’s central role in delivering sustainable solutions to the region’s most pressing challenges.

US TREASURY Monday Secretary of the Treasury Janet L. Yellen and Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo will meet with advisors and staff. At 9 AM, Under Secretary for Domestic Finance Nellie Liang will moderate a panel at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta’s Financial Markets Conference where she will discuss current policy questions regarding the U.S. payment system and the need to ensure responsible innovation in digital assets. The event is open press for pre-registered media. . STATE DEPARTMENT In person press briefings, when held, are schedule for around 2p ET on weekdays.
