DAILY GUIDANCE AND PRESS SCHEDULE 
FOR THURSDAY, JANUARY 12, 2023 
In the morning, the President will receive the President’s Daily Brief. This meeting will be closed press.

Later, the President will deliver remarks on the economy and our efforts to tackle inflation. These remarks in South Court Auditorium will be open to pre-credentialed media and pooled for TV.

After, the President will attend a memorial service for former Secretary of Defense Ash Carter and will deliver remarks. These remarks at the Washington National Cathedral will be covered by the in-town travel pool.

STATE DEPT

Thursday – Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken and Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III will co-host the 2023 U.S.-Japan Security Consultative Committee meeting with Japanese Foreign Minister Hayashi Yoshimasa and Japanese Defense Minister Hamada Yasukazu on January 11, 2023, at the Department of State.  Departmental news briefings, when held on weekdays, occur around 2p ET.
