Then, the President will visit FEMA’s headquarters to receive a briefing on impacts from Hurricane Ian and ongoing Federal response efforts. The President’s remarks at the FEMA headquarters will be covered by the in-town travel pool. In the afternoon, the President will host the first ever U.S.- Pacific Island Country Summit to demonstrate the United States’ deep and enduring partnership with the Pacific Island region. The Summit will reflect our broadening and deepening cooperation on key issues such as climate change, pandemic and economic recovery, maritime security, environmental protection, and advancing a free and open Indo-Pacific. The President’s remarks at the State Department will be covered by the in-town travel pool. Later, as part of the first ever U.S.-Pacific Island Country Summit, the President will welcome the Pacific Island Leaders to the White House. The Leaders will take a family photo. This family photo will have a pool spray at the top. In the evening, the President will host a dinner for the Pacific Island Leaders. This dinner in the State Dining Room will be closed press. Wednesday the White House made clear neither Secty Yellen nor Pres Biden intends to make changes at the to of the Treasury Dept regardless of the outcome of the mid-term elections. STATE DEPARTMENT Thursday – Departmental news briefings when held on weekdays are scheduled for around 2p ET.
