US TREASURY Thursday – Secretary of the Treasury Janet L. Yellen will travel to Detroit, Michigan to deliver a major address on the Biden Administration’s economic agenda. During her remarks, Secretary Yellen will build off of her framework of Modern Supply Side Economics to explain the trajectory of the U.S. economy since President Biden took office and discuss what the passage of the Administration’s legislative agenda means for the future of our country. The Secretary will also speak about how the President’s response to the pandemic spurred one of the fastest recoveries in our nation’s history and restored economic stability, and how the Inflation Reduction Act, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, and the CHIPS and Science Act represent a historic investment in making our economy more productive, more resilient, and fairer for workers and businesses. Secretary Yellen will deliver her speech at 2:00pm ET at Ford Motor Company’s Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Dearborn, following a tour of their production line. On the tour, Secretary Yellen will see production underway of Ford’s fleet of electric vehicles. The tour and speech at Ford are open to pre-registered media. The speech will also be live-streamed here. In the afternoon, Secretary Yellen will visit small businesses that are recipients of Detroit’s Motor City Match grant program which the city has expanded through $15 million in American Rescue Plan funding. USTR Thursday – September 8, Ambassador Katherine Tai and Ambassador Sarah Bianchi will convene the first in-person Indo-Pacific Economic Framework ministerial with Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo in Los Angeles, California. The Ministerial builds on the constructive virtual meetings with 13 Indo-Pacific partners held this year before and after President Biden officially launched the IPEF to develop a high-standard and inclusive economic framework that will fuel economic activity and investment, promote sustainable and inclusive economic growth, and benefit workers and consumers across the region. At 8:45 AM PT, Ambassador Tai and Secretary Raimondo will join for a breakfast event welcoming ministers to Los Angeles. There will be a photo spray where Ambassador Tai and Secretary Raimondo will deliver remarks. At 12:45 PM PT, Ambassador Tai will join Secretary Raimondo for an event announcing steps the Biden Administration and private sector companies will take to leverage the IPEF to create more economic opportunities for women and girls across the Indo-Pacific region.
