In the morning, the President will receive the President’s Daily Brief. This meeting will be closed press.

In the evening, the President and the First Lady will host a reception in recognition of Black History Month. The President and the Vice President will deliver remarks. The Second Gentleman will attend. These remarks in the East Room will be pooled for TV and open to pre-credentialed media.

TREASURY DEPT –

Tuesday – Secretary Yellen at 10a ET  testifiesy at the House Financial Services Committee on “The Annual Report of the Financial Stability Oversight Council.” Other topics likely to come  up.A livestream and other information is here.

STATE DEPT

Tuesday – Secty Blinken has returned to the Middle East for the fifth time, visiting Saudi Arabia Monday then on Tuesday,, Egypt’s Pres El-Sisi, then Qatar, Israel and the West Bank through  Thursday.  Headquarters press briefings, when held on weekdays, occur around 1:15p ET and are livestreamed at State.gov. USTR –

Tuesday – Ambassador Katherine Tai has no public engagements          

Wednesday – At 10:00 AM ET, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) and the Interagency Committee for Trade in Automotive Goods (“Committee”) will hold a hearing to receive public comments about the operation of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) with respect to trade in automotive goods. This hearing is part of USTR’s statutory biennial review of autos-related issues under the USMCA.

Witnesses will present direct testimony, which will be followed by questions from the Committee and USTR.

The hearing is open to the public and will be live streamed at: ustr.gov/live. The witness list for the hearing is available here.  A transcript will be available after the hearing concludes. 

.US HOUSE –

Tuesday – The political maelstrom in the House continues with a vote skedded on a stand-alone Israel aid package the White House firmly opposes, along with votes to advance the impeachment effort vs Cabinet’s Mayorkas.. Speaker Johnson Sunday said the immigration legislation drafted by Democrats and Republicans in the Senate, the draft of which was published Sunday will not be voted on in the House.

US SENATE

Tuesday – 10:00 a.m.: Convene and proceed to executive session to resume consideration of the nomination of Kurt Campbell, of the District of Columbia, to be Deputy Secretary of State.. Majority Leader Schumer hopes to schedule a vote on the immigration package later this week.
