DAILY GUIDANCE AND PRESS SCHEDULE FOR
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 19, 2023

In the morning, the President will receive the President’s Daily Brief. This meeting will be closed press.

In the afternoon, the President will travel to a union training facility in Accokeek, Maryland to deliver remarks contrasting his vision for the economy with MAGA House Republicans’ vision: an economy that grows from the middle out and bottom up instead of an economy that trickles from the top down. The departure from the South Grounds and arrival to International Union of Operating Engineers Local 77 in Accokeek, Maryland will be covered by the in-town travel pool. The remarks will be pooled for TV and open for editorials and still photographers.
 
After, the President will return to the White House. The departure from International Union of Operating Engineers Local 77 in Accokeek, Maryland and arrival to West Executive Avenue will be covered by the in-town travel pool.

The President will convene the fourth virtual leader-level meeting of the Major Economies Forum (MEF) on Energy and Climate in South Court Auditorium.
 
The President will host President Gustavo Petro of Colombia for a bilateral meeting at the White House. Colombia is a key partner of the United States, and during the meeting, the two leaders will discuss how the United States and Colombia can continue to deepen our strong bilateral relationship by making progress on areas of mutual national interest, including promoting further economic and security cooperation. The two leaders will also discuss joint efforts to combat climate change, counter narcotics trafficking, address our regional migration challenge, and promote democratic values and human and labor rights in the region and the world.

The President will speak about building healthy communities and announce new actions to advance environmental justice at the White House.
 
The President will travel to Camp David where he will remain for the weekend.

Ambassador Tai will meet with Japan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hiyashi Yoshimasa. This meeting is closed press.

Ambassador Tai will visit the Patagonia store in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan at 4:10 PM Japan Standard Time, to highlight the important role the public and private sector must play to drive a race to the top in trade that protects the environment and eliminates forced labor in global supply chains. Ambassador Tai will meet with U.S. Ambassador to Japan, Rahm Emanuel. This meeting is closed press.

Deputy United States Trade Representative Ambassador Jayme White will participate in the U.S.-Mexico High-Level Economic Dialogue Mid-Year Review with his counterparts from the State Department and Department of Commerce.  He will be joined by Mexico’s Under Secretary of Foreign Trade, Alejandro Encinas, Under Secretary of Finance and Public Credit, Gabriel Yorio, and the Chief Officer for North America Unit at the Mexican Secretariat of Foreign Affairs, Roberto Velasco.  These meetings are closed press.
